Local Ski Resorts Seeing Increased Business

Representatives from Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, NY (about one hour outside of Buffalo, NY) say when the economy is bad as it is, their business will nearly double.

With a terrible economy, how can an expensive sport like skiing make money? Well, many people who might normally go on a ski vacation out West to Vail or Lake Tahoe or other resorts in the Rockies or Sierra Nevada Mountains, will stay home this year to save money.

While ski vacations are popular when the economy is good, when it’s bad, people will choose to save money and ski at home instead.

Check out the previous blog on local skiing to get more information on local ski resorts, including, Song Mountain, Labrador Mountain, Toggenburg Mountain, and Greek Peak.

In a post to be added soon, I will discuss skiing a little further away from Syracuse, including, Holiday Valley, Gore Mountain, and Whiteface.
