It’s one of the Natural Wonders of the world, and it’s less than three hours away from Syracuse. It’s Niagara Falls.
It’s a great place for a weekend getaway.
The view in the picture is from the American side of the Falls, but the Canadian side offers and even more spectacular view.
There are a variety of activities for everyone around the falls. In the Spring, Summer and Fall, there is the Maid of the Mist boat ride (shown above) that takes you as close to the falls as you can get. You can also take a jet boat ride into the Whirlpools created by the falls in the lower Niagara River. You will get soaked, so you will want to bring a change of clothes. There is also a covered jet boat ride, but staying dry takes the fun out of it.
You can also do the Cave of the Winds which takes you to a natural cave behind the falls.
And Journey Behind the Falls takes you behind the roaring water:
But since winter is approaching, what is there to do at the falls? The falls is even more beautiful in the winter.
There’s the Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls, Canada. As part of the Festival of Lights, there will also be fireworks displays over the falls. They will be every friday from Nov. 14 through Jan. 2, as well as on New Year’s Eve.
You can take a a shot drive up to Niagara on the Lake, which is famous for its wineries, romance, and in the fall it’s Shaw Festival.
There are plenty of events at the wineries in November and December. There are tastings and even opportunities to help pick the grapes for ice wine, an expensive, sweet, dessert wine. The vinters wait until the grapes are just frozen to pick them. There’s even an ice wine festival in January.
There’s also plenty to do on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls Canada. There’s two casinos, restaurants, attractions, and dance clubs. Some of the attractions include, Ripley’s Believe-It-Or-Not, the Sky Wheel, Imax theatre, Indoor Skydiving, and plenty of haunted houses, year round.
Check out the Video on the Sky Wheel:
You will not be bored in Niagara Falls, Canada. It’s perfect for a romantic weekend for two or a fun and adventure filled weekend for a group. And it’s less than three hours from Syracuse.

You were in Niagara Falls and you didn’t visit? You forgot to write that I live there, reason enough for tourists to come from near and far to Niagara Falls this winter.
